I’ve always loved Park Hyung-sik. But seeing his charm first-hand during the Park Hyung-sik 2024 Asia Tour Fan Meeting “SIKcret Time in Manila” has cemented his place among my personal favorite leading men in K-drama land. Here’s everything we love about Park Hyung-sik and his fan meeting in Manila.
1. Park Hyung-sik is a total entertainer
Park Hyung-sik was in full entertainer mode during this fan meeting at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last February 17. The “Doctor Slump” actor sang, danced, learned a lot of Filipino terms, and played games with his Filo SIKcrets during the two-hour show.
Seeing him mostly doing acting projects now, some tend to forget that Park Hyung-sik started as an idol with ZE:A. However, his performances, which included OSTs of his dramas, as well as a cover of Justin Bieber’s “Off My Face,” reminded us of his idol days. No doubt, Park Hyung-sik can definitely sing live, no autotune needed, which makes us crave for that solo album.
2. Park Hyung-sik is a charmer
As a fan who has watched most of his K-dramas and variety show guestings, I’ve always been taken by Park Hyung-sik’s boyish charm. The actor, who is now 32, exudes a more mature appeal now. What hasn’t changed are his kind eyes and gaze. No wonder his appeal is often jokingly described as that of a puppy.
Aside from his good looks and talent, Park Hyung-sik is often praised for his personality. His interactions with his fans are sincere, and don’t come off as mere fan service. His answers to questions made the audience feel as if they’re merely chatting with a friend (albeit a super good looking one). “Wouldn’t it be weird if I’m always happy?” Park Hyung-sik gets real about feeling the blues once in a while. Who doesn’t love a relatable idol like him?
3. Unique challenges make unforgettable moments
Here’s an unpopular opinion: fan meetings can be quite repetitive. If you’ve been to a few shows in the past, you would know what to expect, especially with the challenges and games. It’s definitely refreshing to watch new segments during the Park Hyung-sik fan meeting in Manila.
One segment that drew the most laughs is when Park Hyung-sik had to sing and find the right microphone. Not only did we have fun listening to his chipmunk-like voice but we got goosebumps when he sang “Just Once.”
4. Meaningful fan project
The Park Hyung-sik 2024 Asia Tour Fan Meeting “SIKcret Time in Manila” took fangirling to the next level by donating some of the proceeds to Save the Children Philippines.
Park Hyung-sik even took photos with the group, who were among the attendees of the fan meeting. The actor truly made his short stay worthwhile by spending time with his supporters and making use of his star power for a good cause.
5. Fun swags, booths, and activities
The whole fan meeting experience was made even more complete with all the activities inside the venue. Friends and strangers bonded over their love for Park Hyung-sik while enjoying the photobooths comfortably, and taking home some swags. We definitely had fun encountering people who share the same love for Park Hyung-sik!
“SIKcret Time” in Manila was organized by MQLIVE in partnership with P&STUDIO and TONZ Entertainment. It was powered by Smart and co-presented by McDonald’s, Creamsilk, and Rexona.
