For drama otakus like me, it’s pretty interesting to see the anime versions of Japanese live action dramas. And there are a number out there since Jdoramas are mostly taken from mangas.
Hana Yori Dango, for example, has three live action drama versions, two live action movies, an animated feature movie and an anime series. That’s how popular it is.

Nodame Cantabile, another popular manga was also made into a live action drama, an anime and I’ve heard that they’re making a live action movie. More Chiaki-senpai goodness, yay!

While channel surfing, I also chanced upon the anime version of Honey and Clover on Animax, which was pretty cool. The characters look nothing like the actors in the drama though.

Meanwhile, for a Korean drama to have an anime treatment is something novel, which makes me anticipate the upcoming animated version of Winter Sonata.

Winter Sonata, which started the Hallyu craze across Asia and catapulted its stars Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo to superstardom, is making a come back but this time through animation. The coolest thing about it is that Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo themselves have dubbed the voices of their characters Kang Joon Sang and Jung Yu-jin.
The animated Winter Sonata will be shown in Japan and Korea sometime this fall. Meanwhile, here’s a sneak peek.
