“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” episode 13 and episode 14 are bringing all the pain now that the show is fast approaching its last episodes. We finally get glimpses of the story behind Hong Du-sik’s (Kim Seon-ho) trauma. However, his reluctance to open up about his past is developing cracks in his relationship with Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-a).
‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ Episode 13: A Stormy Birth
A lot of things are happening in Gongjin – from celebrating Du-sik’s birthday to our Sikhye couple’s golf date to Ham Yun-kyung giving birth amidst a storm. Episode 13 starts off being light and fun as the villagers throw a birthday party for Du-sik. Hye-jin sees the homemade liquor Du-sik made for her and wonders what it would taste like after a year. Are they hinting on a time jump possibly?
Meanwhile, Hye-jin’s friends who are in town invite the couple to play golf. Du-sik impresses with his stellar looks and golf skills. However, the women are concerned about his YOLO attitude. Hye-jin starts to wonder about Du-sik’s past job and whether he has plans to return to Seoul.
We also see more of the villagers’ stories in this episode. Jang Young-guk, who’s feeling remorseful after belatedly realizing the reason behind his divorce, tries to make amends with his ex-wife Yeo Hwa-jung.
As they prepare for a storm, Choi Geum-cheul draws the ire of his very pregnant wife Ham Yun-kyung due to his insensitive remarks. When Geum-cheul walks out on his wife, Hye-jin finds Yun-kyung alone and having labor pains. Hye-jin is forced to take Yun-kyung to her house since all roads are closed due to floods. A dentist having to assist in childbirth sounds a bit inane but whatever works for the story, right? Witnessing a baby’s birth first hand seems to have let out Hye-jin’s maternal instinct, revealing her desire to have a family with Du-sik in the future.
It seems like all is well at this point until Hye-jin sees a photo of a family in one of Du-sik’s books. Hye-jin gets disappointed when he refuses to tear down his emotional wall. She asks for some time off from their relationship.
‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ Episode 14: Hidden Past
It’s a bit long overdue but we’re finally learning more about Du-sik’s past. Seon-a, the noona we’ve seen in the flashback, is visiting Gongjin. She seems to be related to Ji Seong-hyun (Lee Sang-yi) who’s still shooting his variety show. We also see more flashbacks of Du-sik and Jeong-u, his close friend and Seon-a’s husband who died.
Hye-jin tells Du-sik that she’s willing to wait until he’s ready to open up to her. It also seems like Du-sik is finally willing to reveal his full story. However, it looks like Du-sik spirals for the worse in the next episode after being confronted by someone who knows his past.
There are a few surprises in this episode, some of which have raised more questions about Du-sik’s past. Why is Seon-a blaming Du-sik for her husband’s death? Who is Kim Gi-hun and why is his son blaming Du-sik for his father becoming a paraplegic? Is Hye-jin going back to Seoul?
We can’t wait to find out the answers to these questions in the last two episodes of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.”
There’s no other choice but for Hyejin to help with the labor since a typhoon is coming (homage to the original movie). But what I’m disturbed with is the lack of blood, the sheets where Yungyeong gave birth was as clean as new. No blood, or hot water, or towel in sight which is weird.
