Donation Drive for Typhoon Rolly

Last November 11, Ji Chang Wook Philippines made a donation of P26,000 to World Vision Philippines. This was in support of the organization’s relief efforts for areas affected by Super Typhoon Rolly. The cash donation was set to help World Vision provide resources for at least 2,000 affected families. Some items needed include hygiene kits, blankets, and mosquito nets.

Super Typhoon Rolly (Typhoon Goni) made its landfall in Bato, Catanduanes last October 31. The typhoon wreaked havoc in the Bicol region and some parts of Southern Luzon. At least 25 died and 399 were injured. More than 2 million individuals were affected.

Just a week after Super Typhoon Rolly’s wrath, another powerful typhoon made its way to the Philippines. Typhoon Ulysses (Typhoon Vamco) triggered the worst flooding in Metro Manila since Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2009. Meanwhile, Cagayan experienced its worst flooding in decades.

In response to these disasters, the Korean Artists Organization of Philippine Fan Clubs (KOPFA) and their allied fan clubs organized a donation drive.

Ji Chang Wook Philippines gave donations in kind worth P35,540 through KOPFA. The group also made another cash donation of P30,000 to World Vision Philippines for their emergency response.

Fandom For A Cause

Fandom charity has grown through the years, with fan groups raising money for various causes, especially those that their idols support.

Ji Chang Wook Philippines, for example, has made several donations this year. Their previous projects include those that benefit the Taal eruption victims, Brigada Eskwela, the Korean Red Cross, Miral Foundation and the Korean Children Leukemia Foundation, among others.

Other fan groups also organize donation drives like fans of BLACKPINK and Bang Ye-dam of TREASURE, who recently turned over donations for typhoon victims.

We stan groups who channel their passions into worthy causes!
