Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk team up to “change the world” in their upcoming drama “Start-Up.” Here’s what we know about the tvN drama set to premiere next month.
Bae Suzy stars as Seo Dal-mi, a university dropout who aspires to become a CEO. She takes on part-time jobs in order to open up her own start-up company.
Meanwhile, Nam Joo-hyuk is Nam Do-san, a math genius and the founder of Samsan Tech. Despite his early success, his company has not been doing well.
The drama also stars Kim Seon-ho and Kang Han-na. Kim Seon-ho is Han Ji-pyeong, an investment manager at a venture capital company. Meanwhile, Kang Han-na is Won In-jae, a second generation CEO. Despite being born privileged, she struggles to succeed on her own in the start-up world.
What is ‘Start-Up’
As the teaser for the drama mentions, start-up refers to “a company that has begun with revolutionary technology and ideas.” The setting for the drama is a fictional Silicon Valley called Sandbox.
Seo Dal-mi is “the CEO who will change the world,” while Nam Do-san is “the developer who will make it possible.” Together they will launch the next big start-up.
Big dreams
In the latest teaser video, the four main characters reveal their individual motivations to succeed.
According to Soompi, Seo Dal Mi “wants to turn the tables.” Meanwhile, Nam Do-san wishes to shine again. Han Ji-pyeong wants to repay his debt, while Won In-jae desires “to earn freedom and success with her own hands.”
A visual feast
There are two things that make this drama worth the wait. The setting is quite unique and relevant today. I think a lot of young viewers will be able to relate to the struggle of making it big. Another thing to look forward to on “Start-Up” is the chemistry between Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk. Their casting alone makes this drama a visual feast.
“Start-Up” starring Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk will premiere this October on Netflix.
