The ratings are out. Korean drama Boys Over Flowers (ABS-CBN) is pitted against Taiwanese drama Fated To Love You (GMA-7) in the primetime ratings war.

In the nationwide household ratings by Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), the premiere of Boys Over Flowers got ahead by five points against Fated To Love You (GMA-7), which got 19.5% viewership.

However in the AGB Mega Manila TV Ratings, Fated To Love You is still ahead with 28.3% vs. BOF’s 22%.

For those who are not familiar with how the ratings work in the Philippines, the Mega Manila ratings is deemed more valuable to advertising as it is the usual basis for ad placements.

If you’ve been watching BOF on ABS-CBN, you’d probably notice that only a few commercials are being shown in between, which may be a good thing for us viewers, but not for the network.

We’ll try to give regular updates on the ratings of BOF so stay tuned.

Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) is a nationwide survey. that is, the ENTIRE PHILIPPINES. (17 regions)

AGB Mega Manila TV Ratings is just from metro manila, capital of the philippines. (1 of the 17 regions) However, i think ad placement differs from one region to another.

ABS said that the lower ratings in metro manila is due to their weaker reception in the area.

There aren’t too many ads in between BOF because it is only on its pilot week. if i remember it right, when meteor garden was first shown here, they only have like 1 or 2 ads in between. but after some time, the rating picks up. (it’s the no.1 asianobela here in the philippines – average-wise.) –
