BTS: Reigning as the Global Top K-Pop Artist
With billions of streams, BTS reigns as the Global Top K-pop Artist of 2024 Spotify Wrapped. The group’s members, Jungkook (#2) and Jimin (#4), also ranked among the top five most-streamed K-pop artists globally, alongside Stray Kids (#3) and NewJeans (#5).
This year’s Global Top K-Pop Songs of Spotify Wrapped reflects the genre’s diverse sounds and styles. Leading the charge is Jimin’s hit, “Who,” which joined Spotify’s Billions Club this year. Following closely are Jungkook’s “Seven (feat. Latto)” and “Standing Next To You,” at #2 and #3, respectively. V’s soulful track, “Love Me Again,” secures the #4 spot, while ILLIT’s breakout hit, “Magnetic,” rounds out the top five.
A Year of K-pop milestones
2024 marked a year of historic achievements for K-pop, driven by passionate fandoms and genre-defining music.
Jungkook’s “Seven (feat. Latto)” crossed 2 billion streams, while “Standing Next To You” became his second entry into Spotify’s Billions Club. Jimin’s “Like Crazy” also reached this milestone, ranking at #8 on the Global Top K-Pop Songs list.
Rising talent further enriched the K-pop landscape. Alongside “Magnetic” by ILLIT, “SHEESH” by RADAR Korea artist BABYMONSTER also earned a spot among the most-streamed K-pop songs of the year at #15. BABYMONSTER also emerged as the 18th most-streamed K-pop artist. Meanwhile, indie rock band wave to earth entered the list at #17, signaling the growth of K-indie on the global stage.
Collaborations added another layer of global K-pop appeal this year. ROSÉ’s duet with Bruno Mars, “APT.,” landed at #6, while LISA’s anthem, “New Woman (feat. ROSALÍA),” ranked at #16.
“Behind every K-Pop milestone and chart-topping hit is the undeniable passion of its fandom,” said Jungjoo Park, Head of Music, Spotify Korea.
“Beyond streaming the music, the fans have played a pivotal role in shaping K-Pop into the cultural phenomenon it is on Spotify today. That’s why Spotify Wrapped is more than a reflection on the music that defined our year. It’s a celebration of all the ways the fans show up for the artists they love—from propelling breakout artists, driving milestone moments, and influencing the ongoing growth of the genre,” he added.
