The Philippines’ very own Cup of Joe is taking the international stage this weekend at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN Premier Ceremony.
The event, which serves as the kickoff for the country’s largest music awards, will be held on Saturday, June 13, at 1:00 p.m. (Tokyo time) at SGC Hall Ariake in Tokyo.
Cup of Joe, recognized as the first Filipino act to ever enter the Billboard Global 200 chart, will perform alongside a diverse lineup of artists representing Japan and the broader Asian region. Their hit song “Multo” helped expand their international profile, making their inclusion in this year’s ceremony a highly anticipated moment for fans. The band’s hit song “Multo” is also nominated for Best Song Asia.
Representing the domestic music scene at the Premier Ceremony are jazz pianist Uehara Hiromi and rock duo THE SPELLBOUND, who will perform with BOOM BOOM SATELLITES. Tokyo-based beatmaker STUTS will also take the stage, accompanied by rising pop singer Hana Hope and rapper Kohijya. Joining the international roster alongside Cup of Joe is Indonesian singer-songwriter Hindia, one of the country’s best-known contemporary artists.
The Premier Ceremony will be hosted by actress Mori Kasumi and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra member Yanaka Atsushi. Over the course of the afternoon event, the majority of the winners for this year’s MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN will be announced. The celebration will then continue several hours later with the Grand Ceremony at the nearby TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO.
Fans worldwide can tune in to the Premier Ceremony, as it will be livestreamed on YouTube and other available services.
This marks the second edition of the awards, following its inaugural event held at the ROHM Theater in Kyoto in 2025. The ceremony is organized by the Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association, or CEIPA, a unique organization that brings together Japan’s five major music industry groups. The event aims to celebrate domestic talent while establishing Japan as a central hub for elevating Asian music on the global stage.
