“Bad and Crazy” stars Lee Dong-wook, Wi Ha-joon, Han Ji-eun, and Cha Hak-yeon talked about their much-awaited drama in its global press conference. The iQiyi Original drama boasts of intense action scenes promising an exciting series to watch out for starting December 17.
‘Bad and Crazy’ Global Press Conference
The stars of “Bad and Crazy” took the center stage to answer questions about preparing for their characters in the drama. Lee Dong-wook, who plays the police inspector Ryu Su-yeol, shared that the director gave him freedom to express his character. “He allowed me to act however I thought to act.”
For his part, Wi Ha-joon studied the comical aspects of the crazy yet righteous K who is not afraid to uphold justice in a corrupt world. “I watched a lot of comedy, TV shows and films. I’m not funny in real life but I try to maintain that aspect of my character. I try to stay in character on set.”
Han Ji-eun, who plays Su-yeol’s ex-girlfriend and police officer Lee Hui-gyeom, said she tried her best to stick to the script to stay in character. “My character’s personality tends to be dull, so I tried not to improvise.”
Meanwhile, Cha Hak-yeon revealed that he had to say goodbye to his longer hair for his role as the ardent police officer Oh Kyeong-tae. “I try to imagine what my character will do in my ordinary life. I would ask questions to police officers on what they do.”
Action Star Wi Ha-joon
“Bad and Crazy” features exhilarating large-scale action scenes, which tested the actors’ physical endurance. The stars, however, sang praises for Wi Ha-joon’s action skills. Lee Dong-wook shared that even if there were available stunt doubles on set, Wi Ha-joon volunteered to do the really difficult stunts.
Although Wi Ha-joon seemed to be an ace in action scenes, he did have some difficulty with wearing a leather jacket in the middle of summer. “Fighting while wearing a motorcycle helmet was really super hot!”
The Bad and The Crazy
Aside from the intense action scenes, viewers will be looking forward to the ‘bromance’ between Lee Dong-wook and Wi Ha-joon. Wi Ha-joon said that although their characters could not stand each other in the beginning, they will progress on to work well with each other.
“There’s this action scene with Su-yeol (Lee Dong-wook) in a junkyard. It was spectacular. I think the chemistry really shines in that scene. It’s the first time they feel like they’re a team,” he teases.
“Bad and Crazy” is a heroic drama that follows the capable but bad cop Ryu Su-yeol as he regains his humanity after meeting the righteous but crazy ‘K’. The iQiyi Original K-series is set to premiere on December 17. New episodes will be simulcasted with Korea on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:50 p.m. (SGT), across 191 territories on the iQiyi International app and www.iq.com.
