With today’s teaser release, we get a glimpse of “Squid Game” season 2 cast members in action.
“Squid Game” follows a group of desperate contestants who risk their lives to win the 45.6 billion won cash prize in a mysterious extreme survival game.
Last June, Netflix announced the complete lineup of “Squid Game” season 2 cast members, which of course includes Lee Jung-jae. He portrays Seong Gi-hun, who survived the first season’s game and returns to seek revenge against the game’s organizers.
The one-minute-fifty-two-second “Squid Game” season 2 teaser opens with the familiar overhead shot of players in green-and-white tracksuits navigating the maze-like set. It then shows Gi-hun having his photo taken in a booth, followed by other players.
They are then welcomed by a worker in a pink suit and with a square mask and then led to the field to play the Red Light, Green Light game, marking the start of a brutal series of player eliminations.
In the teaser, Gi-hun guides other players and attempts to convince them to get out of the competition. After each game, the contestants are given a chance to leave with the accumulated prize money. “If we don’t stop this, they’ll kill us all,” he warns. However, the remaining contestants clamor for “one more game.”
Other returning cast members are shown in the teaser. Lee Byung-hun, reprising his role as The Frontman, is seen holding a glass of liquor. Meanwhile, Wi Ha-joon, who gained international fame as the police officer who infiltrated the game, appears in stealth attack mode.
The “Squid Game” season 2 teaser also provides a first look at the new cast members. Park Sung-hoon of “Queen of Tears” and “The Glory” joins the cast as a contestant, sporting a different look. On the other hand, Im Si-wan gets punched in the face by another competitor.
Choi Seung-hyun, also known as T.O.P., portrays a contestant who causes another player to panic, triggering her elimination during the Red Light, Green Light game. Fellow K-pop artist Jo Yu-ri appears entering a game room with other contestants.
A distressed Kang Ae-sim is also shown embracing fellow contestant Yang Dong-geun.
Gong Yoo will reprise his role as the recruiter. Also joining the “Squid Game” season 2 cast are Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Lee David, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.
“Squid Game” Season 2 will stream on Netflix on December 26, 2024.
