One sure sign that an Asian drama is a hit on Philippine TV is reruns. And that’s exactly what network rivals GMA-7 and ABS-CBN are doing extensively as of late.

The Korean hit (and still one of my favorite K-dramas of all time), My Name is Kim Sam Soon is being shown on GMA at 5:30 p.m., before the game show Hole in the Wall. I haven’t had the chance to watch the Tagalized version when it was first shown here so I tried to catch a few episodes. Unlike other Tagalized versions of Asian dramas, I think the dubbing for this one actually worked. The voices aren’t as irritating as other dubbed dramas and it’s just fun to look at the expressions of the actors instead of catching up with the subtitles.

Another drama that is being shown again, this time on GMA’s sister network QTV 11, is the Japanese drama Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. I think it’s being aired around 10 am on QTV. I chanced upon it last Sunday and I thought that the editing as well as the dubbing was really bad. Hana Kimi was one of those dramas that I enjoyed thoroughly but now I can see why some viewers preferred the Taiwan version.

Speaking of which, Hana Kimi Taiwan will also have its rerun starting this Sunday at 10 am on ABS-CBN. I haven’t seen this version yet, and I’m not exactly convinced of Wu Chun’s charms (sorry I’m a loyal Oguri Shun fan) but I’m thinking of watching it this time.

So which rerun would you care to watch?
