The internet is abuzz about a possible reunion for “Crash Landing on You” (CLOY) stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. Last June, Hyun Bin was introduced as the newest face of Smart Communications. But is Son Ye-jin joining him as well?
Seri’s Choice?
That might be the case if we are to believe speculations as reported by Gizguide. The tech website has spotted a Smart Signature banner with a woman’s silhouette resembling Son Ye-jin. The report even pointed out that the tagline “The Signature Choice” is reminiscent of Yoon Se-ri’s (Son Ye-jin) fashion company Seri’s Choice on the hit series “Crash Landing on You.”
Last July 18, the Korean actress posted on her Instagram a video of her riding a motorcycle. Fans immediately asked whether this was a shoot for Smart, noting that the set looked similar to Hyun Bin’s commercial.
Smart dropping hints?
Gizguide also spotted an Instagram post by Smart’s SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business Jane Basas, showing a hand holding a motorcycle helmet with the caption “Almost there” and a sunflower emoji. Fans are speculating that the person holding the helmet is none other than Seri herself.
When asked if Smart will be getting more Korean endorsers, Smart president and CEO Al Panlilio was quoted last June as saying, “Captain Ri is lonely if he’s alone right?” referring to Hyun Bin’s character on CLOY. Panlilio also announced Hyun Bin’s visit to the Philippines soon, “hopefully not alone.” Although no confirmation has been made regarding Son Ye-jin’s possible Smart endorsement, Panlilio said that they are working hard “to make people happy.”
“Simple. Smart Ako”
Smart officially launched Hyun Bin as their brand ambassador last June, together with the telco’s new advertising campaign and tagline “Simple. Smart Ako.” They also revealed that Hyun Bin will be visiting the Philippines. However, no confirmed schedule has been announced yet because of the current global pandemic.
The CLOY Phenomenon
Korean superstars Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin have been riding high following the success of their most recent drama “Crash Landing on You” that has become a phenomenon in the Philippines.
Their undeniable chemistry on and off screen have made fans wishing they were a real couple. Binjin supporters were delighted to see the two together again at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards last June as they received their Tiktok Popularity Award.
Will we see the two together again? Stay tuned for updates.
