“Twinkling Watermelon” and “A Good Day to Be a Dog,” both named in Hallyudorama.com’s top K-drama picks in 2023, are now available as Tagalog-dubbed K-dramas on Viu Philippines.
Also released as Tagalog-dubbed K-dramas on Viu this month are “Partners for Justice” (2018) and “Angel’s Last Mission: Love” (2019). The 2023 Chinese drama “The White Castle” also got a version dubbed in Tagalog.
“Twinking Watermelon,” our Dark Horse pick last year, is a coming-of-age fantasy series. It stars Ryeoun, Choi Hyun-wook, Seol In-ah, and Shin Eun-soo. In the series, the musically inclined Ha Eun-gyeol, the only hearing person in his family, finds himself in 1995. He meets his parents in their youth and becomes friends with them. He even formed a band called Watermelon Sugar with his father. Eun-gyeol gets to know more about his parents and helps them make their young lives shine brighter.
“The Hallyudorama team got into this drama without any expectations but left with so many valuable lessons,” this publication wrote about “Twinkling Watermelon” in January.
On the other hand, “A Good Day to Be a Dog,” another fantasy series, stars Cha Eun-woo and Park Gyu-young. Their costar, Lee Hyun-woo, is one of our Favorite Villains in Hallyudorama.com’s top K-drama picks in 2023. (Watch our Usapang Hallyu episode on our 2023 top K-drama picks.)
In the drama, Park Gyu-young is a high school teacher who suffers from a family curse. Once she kisses a man, she turns into a dog for six hours starting at midnight every day. She can only break the curse when the man kisses her while she is in her dog form. After accidentally kissing the character of Cha Eun-woo, she tries her best to get him to help her. Meanwhile, Lee Hyun-woo, who plays the role of Cha Eun-woo’s friend, surprises the viewers when he is revealed to be a villain.
Meanwhile, in “Partners for Justice,” an eccentric forensic doctor works with a young and kind prosecutor in solving cases. This 2018 medical crime K-drama featured Jung Jae-young and Jeong Yu-mi.
Joining this batch of K-dramas dubbed in Tagalog is “Angel’s Last Mission: Love.” Its lead stars are Shin Hye-sun and Kim Myung-soo, also known as L. Shin Hye-sun is a talented ballerina who doesn’t believe in love, while Kim Myung-soo is a troublesome guardian angel. For him to be able to return to heaven, he had to find true love for her.
Another medical drama, “The White Castle,” a C-drama is now also Tagalog-dubbed on Viu. This series follows four hero doctors – two seniors and two rookies. Its lead cast are Peng Guanying, Tu Songyan, Cass Gai, Gao Xin, and Xiong Ziqi.
