Park Eun-bin stars as Woo Young-woo, the first Korean lawyer with autism spectrum disorder. Her photographic memory and genuine interest in law allowed her to graduate from the Seoul National University on top of her class and to ace the bar exams. Aside from her job, she’s preoccupied with everything and anything about whales. Her whale obsession is quite funny and endearing. We know she’s having a light bulb moment once we see the whales. “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” on Netflix takes us inside the mind of a person with autism and their cognitive behavior.

2. Park Eun-bin is an extraordinary actress

Fresh from her unforgettable portrayal of a woman-king in “The King’s Affection,” Park Eun-bin takes on another challenging role as Woo Young-woo. Her charming portrayal of a woman with autism has won over not only the audience but also critics, including journalists in Korea. Her mannerisms, tone and manner of speech come off naturally that you would forget the actress behind the character. Park Eun-bin seems to be the type of actress who’s not afraid to take on complex roles and her gamble has definitely paid off with this latest project.

3. ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ on Netflix is an eye-opener

Each episode of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” on Netflix takes on different cases that deal with certain prejudices. Inspite of her brilliance, Woo Young-woo herself is not exempted from discrimination at work. In one of the episodes, other people’s perception makes her doubt her ability to help clients. The drama tackles how society’s prejudices and misconceptions give way to inequality and unjust practices.

4. Kang Tae-oh gets a green flag (so far)

Kang Tae-oh is the kindhearted Lee Joon-ho, Woo Young-woo’s colleague and love interest. He takes care of her as they work closely together. He may be the most popular guy at the law firm but he only has eyes for Young-woo. We can’t wait to see how Young-woo will respond when he finally confesses his feelings for her!

5. Visuals are on point

There’s something so soothing and calming about the visuals of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” on Netflix. From the mise-en-scene, the cute opening billboard with the whale CGI and kimbap flat lay, down to the actors themselves, this drama is a visual treat. No wonder the series has been charming audiences worldwide. The drama hasn’t even ended yet but the production is already in talks for a U.S. remake. Now that’s extraordinary!
