K-drama classic “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” and last year’s fantasy series “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” are Viu Philippines’ latest Tagalog-dubbed South Korean dramas.
Tagalized versions of these Hallyu favorites started streaming on Viu last March 12.
Tagalog-Dubbed ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo’
“Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” first aired in Korea 2016. It follows a modern-day woman who gets transported back in time to the Goryeo era. She wakes up in the body of a noble lady and gets entangled in a love triangle between two princes.
In this series, IU plays the role of Go Ha-jin of the present time and Lady Hae Soo of Goryeo. Lee Joon-gi is 4th Prince Wang Soo, and Kang Ha-neul is 8th Prince Wang Wook.
Viewers must find out who Hae Soo ends up with and if her actions can alter history.
‘Tale of the Nine-Tailed’ Also Tagalog-Dubbed
Meanwhile, “Tale of the Nine-Tailed,” tells the story of a gumiho or nine-tailed fox – a mythical creature in Korean folklore – who fell in love with a human. He finds the reincarnation of his loved one, and together they face a powerful mythical serpent.
Lee Dong-wook plays the title role of gumiho Lee Yeon, while Jo Bo-ah is Nam Ji-ah, the reincarnation of his first love. Kim Bum, who became popular after “Boys Over Flowers,” returns to K-drama as Lee Rang, Yeon’s clingy half-brother.
Kim Yong-ji joins the cast of this entertaining fantasy K-drama as Ki Yoo-ri, Rang’s partner-in-crime. Hwang Hee is Yeon’s friend Koo Shin-joo, and Lee Tae-ri portrays the villain imoogi.
Other Viu Titles in Tagalog
Last month, Viu also started streaming “Flower of Evil” and “Welcome to Waikiki” in Tagalog.
Viu Philippines launched its Tagalog-dubbed content in November with the release of “Emergency Couple” and “When the Weather is Fine.”
It also started offering the Tagalog-dubbed versions of “The Beauty Inside” and “Another! Miss Oh” on Christmas Day last year.
