He might be the second lead, but Byeon Woo-seok has been making his mark in the tvN drama “Record of Youth.” Let’s get to know more about this rising actor.
Where have we seen him
Byeon Woo-seok has played minor and supporting roles in the past. In “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” he played the role of IU’s ex-boyfriend who cheated on her. You might not remember him in this bit role because he only appeared for a few seconds in the first episode.
Last year, Byeon Woo-Seok gained popularity for his role in the period drama “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.” He played the role of Do Joon, one of the three members of Joseon’s most successful matchmaking agency.
Model turned actor
Like his role in “Record of Youth,” Byeon Woo-seok started his career as a model. He debuted in 2016 in the tvN drama “Dear My Friends 5.” Soon after, he played minor roles before his breakout role in the drama “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.”
In a previous interview, Byeon Woo-seok said he can relate to his role in “Record of Youth,” where he plays the model-turned-actor Won Hae-hyo. But despite walking the runway many times in the past, Byeon Woo-seok admitted that he was nervous to film the fashion show scene.
Best friend or rival?
In “Record of Youth,” Byeon Woo-seok is Won Hae-hyo, Sa Hye-jun’s (Park Bo-gum) best friend and work rival. Unbeknownst to him, Won Hae-hyo’s mother does everything in her power to keep his son at the top. His friendship with Sa Hye-jun is put to test when the two go after the same role in a movie.
It would be interesting to see how their relationship is tested when they learn about how Won Hae-hyo’s mother is using her money and influence for her son’s career. Will Won Hae-hyo give way to Sa Hye-jun and give up his dream role?
Episode 3 of “Record of Youth” will be out today on Netflix. Here’s a summary of episode 2:
