So how was Cha Eun-woo able to transform from a sweet leading man to a rugged and scarred character?

“I don’t want to think of it as a big transformation per se but when I read the script for ‘Wonderful World,’ I thought the inner scars that my character has is something that I want to portray. I love the way he tries to overcome that inner scar of his.”

He was so committed to his role that Cha Eun-woo also made a few changes in his looks as seen in the teaser.

“To portray this character who chose the more rugged and rough life, in terms of physicality I tried to work out a little bit more. As for the hairstyle, it couldn’t be too polished. I thought I shouldn’t pay too much attention to my hair in order to be more like the character Seon-yul. ”

Kim Nam-joo is back

“Wonderful World” is Kim Nam-joo’s comeback drama after six years. She plays the role of a psychology professor who wants to bring justice into her own hands after losing her son unjustly. The actress, who spent quality time with her own children during her break, says her character’s strong motherly love has convinced her to take on the role of Eun Soo-hyun.

“I think what was important for me was the motherly love (of her character). That’s what persuaded me. When Eun Soo-hyun lost her son unjustly, I thought I wanted to be her to represent how these bereaved families feel,” she said.

Despite being in the industry for decades, Kim Nam-joo admits to be feeling quite nervous after returning from her six-year acting break.

“I have butterflies in my stomach but the whole production process was very enjoyable,” she described her experience.

An unexpected pair

Aside from Kim Nam-joo’s return to the small screen, the unlikely pairing with Cha Eun-woo has garnered a lot of buzz. However, Cha Eun-woo was quick to describe their chemistry as “100 over 100,” saying “It was perfect.”

“On set when I had scenes with her, it was just so enjoyable. Whenever I was unsure of something and I asked her for advice, she would really give me nice advice so she was such a big help to me,” the actor praised his sunbaenim.

Meanwhile, Kim Nam-joo describes the chemistry between her and Cha Eun-woo as something that’s unexpected.

“Honestly, in the beginning it was a little bit overwhelming because he looks like a prince who has come to Earth from a different planet. But as the days went by, he was like a little brother. Or is that too much, maybe a nephew? We had a lot of fun,” she commented.

Also present during the press conference were co-stars Kim Kang-woo, Im Se-mi and director Lee Seung-young. PD Lee describes what the audience can expect from this series.

“It’s about all of us who live in this world where we consistently lose something but we want to make the world a better place.”
