When a hardworking plastic surgeon is assigned to a remote Korean island as part of his military service, fate will connect him with the one person who can keep him sane in “Doctor on the Edge” — a new Korean romantic drama coming June 1 to Disney+.
For years, Do Ji-ui has studied tirelessly to become a top plastic surgeon at one of Korea’s best universities. Walled off from his emotions and driven by his singular focus, Ji-ui is suddenly snapped back to reality when he’s assigned to work for a year on a remote Korean island as part of his military service.
Warned by his colleagues to avoid getting involved in accidents, people, or love if he ever wants to get his career back on track, Ji-ui’s assignment gets off to an ominous start from the moment he steps on the ferry, with things rapidly getting worse from then.
Stressed, emotional, and questioning what he did to deserve such a bad assignment, his only hope of making it through the year ahead lies in Yuk Ha-ri, a helpful nurse who recently relocated to the island for unknown reasons.
“Doctor on the Edge” stars Lee Jae-wook (“The Impossible Heir,” “Alchemy of Souls”) as Do Ji-ui, a plastic surgery resident assigned to Pyeondong-do — a remote Korean island — and Shin Ye-eun (“The Murky Stream,” “Revenge of Others”) as Yuk Ha-ri, a nurse from the big city who moves to Pyeondong-do for an unknown reason.
The series is directed by Lee Myung-woo (“The Fiery Priest”) and is written by Kim Ji-soo (“Missing Crown Prince”).
Set to debut on Disney+ on June 1 at 10:30 p.m. (Manila time) new episodes of this 12-part series will launch every Monday and Tuesday through July 6 and 7.
