It always feels good when your idol or a person you really like shares similar things with you, however mundane it may be. My fangirl heart leapt when I found out that Hyun Bin was a Catholic. Now, it seems that I may share a similarity with another Korean actor, the adorable Jang Geun Suk.

Back when I was in high school, my ultimate dream was to have my own rock band. I even learned to play the guitar and wrote songs with my girlfriends. Seriously! Jang Geun Suk seems to share this dream as he is again playing the role of a musician in his new drama Mary Stayed Out All Night.

ABS-CBN wrapped up You’re Beautiful this week with less than stellar ratings probably due to its awkward timeslot. I think most of those who have seen You’re Beautiful would agree that YAB definitely deserved a primetime slot.

Oh well, for those who loved Jang Geun Suk in You’re Beautiful and just can’t get enough of him, here’s another drama to watch out for. In Mary Stayed Out All Night, Jang Geun Suk plays the role of rocker Kang Mu-Kyul opposite Moon Geun Young (My Little Bride, Cinderella Sister). The drama also stars Kim Jae-Wook (yup, it’s waffle guy Sun Ki of Coffee Prince fame) as the obligatory third party in this K-drama.

If that wonderful cast isn’t enough to fire up your enthusiasm for this drama, you may be interested to know that Mary Stayed Out All Night was adapted from a manhwa written by Won Su Yeon, the same author of the Full House manhwa, which we all know was a big hit and made big stars out of Rain and Song Hye Kyo.

Mary Stayed Out All Night will start airing on KBS on November 8, replacing Sungkyunkwan Scandal.

For those who can’t wait till then, you may ogle at Jang Geun Suk in his other rock star roles:

JGS plays the vocalist of a band in the movie DoReMiFaSoLaTiDo. If you don’t mind the absurd plot and the occasional cheesefest then this movie is for you. But remember, you’ve been forewarned.

In Beethoven Virus, JGS plays Kang Gun Woo, a cop who turns out to be a musical genius.

Jang Geun Suk rocked as ANJell’s leader Hwang Tae Kyung. Now I’m starting to miss Go Mi Nam and her hyungnim. Good thing I have my YAB DVD!

  1. This is nice but you forgot to include one more JGS’s rockin’ movie “The Happy Life” where again he plays a rocker. Songs were great and catchy and I had a lot of fun watching it.

  2. I just finished watching Beethoven Virus and it made me wanna do music again. I graduated from a music college and was side tracked because I am starting a family. Watching BV made me realize what I have been missing…
