Kim Bum is making his comeback on the small screen this 2020 with the upcoming drama “Tale of the Nine-Tailed.” This is his first project after completing the mandatory military service last March.
Flower Boy Kim Bum
For those who were late to the Hallyu fever, the name Kim Bum might not ring a bell. This isn’t surprising as the actor has had limited success after the hit drama “Boys Over Flowers.” However, in 2008, it was all about the F4, which made Lee Min-ho and Kim Bum household names.
Kim Bum’s boyish charm and bedimpled smile endeared him to many, including Filipinos. Kim Bum was so popular then that fans went crazy when he visited the Philippines. During his visit to Manila in 2009, he shot a commercial for RC Cola with actress Maja Salvador. He also had a few TV guestings on ABS-CBN. Hallyudorama was lucky enough to see Kim Bum in the flesh during the taping for his interview on the defunct talk show “The Buzz.”
Kim Bum’s Health Issues
In 2012, his agency revealed that Kim Bum was suffering from degenerative arthritis. This was after the actor lost a lot of weight for his role on the JTBC drama “Padam Padam.” His rigorous workout, drastic weight loss, and past accidents allegedly worsened his condition.
Despite his health issues, Kim Bum continued his acting projects. He starred in a few films and dramas like “Goddess of Fire” and “Hidden Identity.” He was last seen in the action adventure movie “Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead.”
Kim Bum Returns in 2020
In April 2018, Kim Bum enlisted in the military, and he was assigned as a social worker due to his health condition. Last March, he was finally discharged after completing the two-year mandatory military service.
Kim Bum’s latest project “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” starring Lee Dong-wook marks his return to the K-drama world. 2020 might just be the year for Kim Bum as fans look forward to what’s next for this talented actor.
