There’s no denying, Park Hyung-sik has captured many hearts with his comedic timing and charm in many of our favorite K-dramas. His ability to switch from a cute boy-next-door to full-on leading man is just one of his many strengths. Without further ado, here are some of our favorite Park Hyung-sik K-dramas to date.

5. ‘The Heirs’

Perhaps no single K-drama in history has produced more superstars than “The Heirs.” The 2013 hit cemented the status of its main stars Lee Min-ho, Park Shin-hye, and Kim Woo-bin. However, it’s interesting to see how the supporting cast, including Park Hyung-sik, Kim Ji-won, Krystal Jung, Kang Ha-neul, and Kang Min-hyuk, all went on to build their own careers after the show.

Park Hyung-sik played the funny and playful Jo Myung-soo, who often hangs out with his best friend Choi young-do played by Kim Woo-bin. Myung-soo is the son of the CEO of Victory Law Firm. He’s like the stereotypical spoiled rich kid who cares less about everything except having fun. Park Hyung-sik’s role in “The Heirs” might have been small but this gave us a glimpse of his comedic abilities and, of course, his “aegyo.”

4. ‘Happiness’

After serving in the military for two years, Park Hyung-sik came back with the apocalyptic thriller “Happiness.” He played the role of Jung Yi-hyun, an honest detective who tries to protect the people from a spreading mad person disease. Jung Yi-hyun is secretly in love with his high school friend turned fake wife Yoon Sae-bom, played by Han Hyo-joo.

We see Park Hyung-sik in a lot of action scenes as he investigates the cause of the disease while keeping away from being infected. However, it’s the few drama scenes with Han Hyo-joo that really reminds us of his “mata-mata” acting abilities.

3. ‘Doctor Slump’

Park Hyung-sik and his comedic antics are back in his latest K-drama “Doctor Slump.” The actor has proved once again that no one can do annoyingly cocky yet adorable characters like him.

He plays the role of self-confident Yeo Jeong-woo, a brilliant plastic surgeon, who fell into a career slump. Aside from his role, we are also loving his chemistry with Park Shin-hye, with whom he is reunited after working in “The Heirs.”

2. ‘Hwarang’

Historical dramas aren’t always everyone’s cup of tea. But if the story of “Hwarang” isn’t enough to convince you, the super good-looking cast might do the trick. This K-drama brings together some of Korea’s most beautiful men including Park Hyung-sik, Park Seo-joon, V, Choi Min-ho, Do Ji-han, among others.

Park Hyung-sik plays the role of King Jinheung of Silla, who is disguised as one of the Hwarangs, an elite group of male youths. Hyung-sik’s portrayal of a selfless king will surely make you root for his character.

1. ‘Strong Girl Bong-soon’

By far, his most iconic role to date is the cocky chaebol heir and gaming company CEO Ahn Min-hyuk in “Strong Girl Bong-soon.” Park Hyung-sik became a household name as Min Min opposite his Bong Bong or Do Bong-soon, played by Park Bo-young. Who could forget those dramatic entrances?

Bong Bong and Min Min surely left an impression to many K-drama fans that many were delighted to see them do a cameo in the 2023 spinoff “Strong Girl Nam-Soon.” How about reuniting them in a sequel next time?
