Disney+ is bringing together South Korean and Japanese talent for “Merry Berry Love,” a romantic comedy starring Ji Chang-wook and Imada Mio that premieres October 7.
The series is set on Charo Island in Japan, where strawberry farmer Shirahama Karin has devoted herself to growing strawberries. Her routine is disrupted when Lee Yubin, a Korean spatial designer who suddenly finds himself without the life he once had, arrives on the island.
Their meeting gets off to an awkward start, but an unexpected misunderstanding keeps the two in each other’s orbit and gradually sets the stage for romance.
Ji Chang-wook plays Yubin, while Imada Mio portrays Karin. The cast also includes Nam Yoon-su, Rinka Kumada and Yasunori Danta.
The series is directed by Kim Soo-jung, who previously worked on “Semantic Error,” and Roh Young-sub, director of “My Lovely Liar.” Lee Jae-yoon, the writer behind “Divorce Insurance,” penned the script.
“Merry Berry Love” was developed and produced by CJ ENM and Disney, with Nippon TV serving as co-producer. CJ ENM’s previous productions include “Crash Landing on You” and “Queen of Tears.”
The Korea-Japan romantic comedy premieres October 7 on Disney+ Philippines.
