Netflix on Thursday officially confirmed the production of the romantic comedy series featuring Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung.
“Can love bridge a language barrier? This endearing question is at the heart of Can This Love Be Translated? (WT), with Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung leading the cast,” Netflix said in a news release.
Kim Seon-ho is Ju Ho-jin, a multilingual translator fluent in English, Japanese, and Italian, among other languages. Meanwhile, Go Youn-jung is Cha Mu-hee, a cheerful and spirited global celebrity. As their professional relationship changes, an unexpected romance develops between the two.
Along with the announcement, the streaming company also released photos of the cast during the script reading.
Joining Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung in the cast is the Japanese actor Fukushi Sota (“As the Gods Will,” “Bleach”) in his first Korean drama series. Also in the K-drama are Lee E-dam (“Daily Dose of Sunshine,” “Black Knight”) and Choi Woo-sung (“Chief Detective 1958,” “Melancholia,” “My Roommate Is a Gumiho”).
The new K-drama with the working title “Can This Love Be Translated” is written by the Hong Sisters. The renowned duo also wrote “Alchemy of Souls,” “Hotel del Luna,” “The Greatest Love,” and “The Master’s Sun.” Yoo Young-eun (“Bloody Heart”) directs the new series.
Media reports earlier said “Can This Love Be Translated” would start filming this month. This week, netizens published photos and videos of Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung leaving Korea and arriving in Japan. There were also posts saying Kim Seon-ho was seen filming on an island in Japan.

Last April 13, Kim Seon-ho held the Manila leg of his 2024 Asia fan meeting tour. During the fan meeting, his Filipino fans celebrated his birthday in advance.
Kim Seon-ho demonstrated how to cook the UFC Fun Chow rice mixes’ Korean flavors. He also prepared flavored chicken with the brand’s Korean-style meat sauce called Oppa Mixes, which some fanmeet attendees got to try. Kim Seon-ho endorses the two products.
For her part, Go Youn-jung recently became an endorser of Nonghyup Bank. However, the release of her new drama, “Resident Playbook,” has been delayed due to the medical strike in Korea.
Last year, she starred in the blockbuster Disney+ series “Moving,” which is about young people with extraordinary abilities. She also appeared in the hit Prime Video reincarnation drama “Death’s Game.”
