Netflix has confirmed that it will stream the much-awaited drama starring Park Bo-gum and IU. With the working title “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” the series also stars Moon So-ri, and Park Hae-joon.

“When Life Gives You Tangerines” tells the story of Ae-sun, “the remarkable rebel,” and Gwan-sik, whose nickname means “unyielding iron.” The drama’s main characters were born in the 1950s in Jeju Island. Its Korean title pays homage to the Jeju dialect, translating to “thank you for your hard work.”

Producer Kim Won-suk (“Misaeng: Incomplete Life,” “Signal,” “My Mister”) and screenwriter Lim Sang-chun (“Becky’s Back,” “Fight for My Way,” “When the Camellia Blooms”) lead the series’ creative team.

IU (“My Mister,” “Hotel del Luna,” “Broker,” “Dream”) plays Ae-sun, a determined rebel who continuously defies her fate. “When Life Gives You Tangerines” marks her second collaboration with producer Kim Won-suk.

For his part, Park Bo-gum (“Love in the Moonlight,” “Encounter,” “Record of Youth”) brings Gwan-sik to life. He has a long-standing crush on Ae-sun since they were young. A steadfast man, Gwan-sik shows his sincere affection through his actions.

Moon So-ri (“Queenmaker,” “Race”) and Park Hae-joon (“My Mister,” “The World of the Married”) portray the older versions of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik, respectively.
