The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) on Friday opened this year’s Korean Film Festival (KFF) with the movie “Exit.” This hit action film, released 2019, stars Jo Jung-suk and Girls Generation’s Im Yoon-ah.

The month-long event, dubeed “2021 Korean Film Festival: Full House, Fun for All,” is again happening amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 Korean Film Festival offers action, comedy, and family drama movies

From May 7 to 27, viewers all over the Philippines can enjoy from home and for free seven Korean films from three genres.

Organizers picked three genres namely action, comedy, and family drama to cater to the varying preferences of every family member. Those looking for a good laugh, action-packed scenes, or heartwarming movies may find their own favorites among the lineup.

Joining “Exit,” in the action genre is the 2019 movie “Extreme Job,” starring Ryu Seung-ryong, Lee Hanne, Jin Seon-kyu, Lee Dong-hwi, and Gong Myung. These two movies are available until May 13.

On the other hand, the comedy category has the 2016 film “My Annoying Brother” featuring Jo Jung-suk, EXO’s Do Kyung-soo, and Park Shin-hye. Also included is the 2019 film “Miss and Mrs. Cops” starring Ra Mi-ran and Lee Sung-kyung. Viewers may enjoy these comedy films from May 14 to 20.

Meanwhile, those who enjoy family drama can look forward to the highly-acclaimed 2019 film “Kim Jiyoung, Born in 1982” starring Jung Yu-mi and Gong Yoo. There’s also the 2018 flick “Keys to the Heart” featuring Lee Byung-hun, Park Jung-min, and 2021 Oscars’ best supporting actress Youn Yuh-jung. Also in the family drama genre is the 2018 drama “The Soul-Mate” starring Ma Dong-seok and Kim Young-kwang. These films may be viewed for free from May 21 to 27.

In addition to the free movies, KCC has also prepared exciting activities for viewers who want to win prizes. Hallyu fans may join the 2021 KFF Online Film Reaction Essay Contest and the KFF Survey. They just need to write their thoughts about the films or answer a few questions. Full mechanics of the contests are at KCC’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

KFF is one of the landmark events of KCC’s Kolorful Adventures campaign. This campaign takes its inspiration from the colorful Korean culture that has been the playground of most Filipinos since the advent of the Hallyu Wave. The K-culture has also been the companion of many in weathering the ongoing pandemic.

This year’s KFF is organized by the Korean Cultural Center and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. It is done in partnership with Korea Film Council, Film Development Council of the Philippines, Korea Tourism Organization, Viva International Pictures, and APOP.
