Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” episode 5 and episode 6 are a welcome reprieve to an overwhelming number of sad news and status updates of late. In a beautiful scene under the rain, Kim Seon-ho as Hong Du-sik gives us an important reminder when met with unexpected situations.

‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ episode 5: Rumors and prejudices

The episode starts off with a funny scene of how rumors fly fast in the small town of Gongjin. Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-a) spent the night at Hong Du-sik’s house after getting drunk. The townsfolk are now interested to know what’s going on between the two.

The villagers go on to debate who’s better between Du-sik and Hye-jin. It’s a common debate on whether social status is important. Hye-jin thinks big of herself as a hot shot dentist. She is prejudiced against Du-sik’s job as a part-timer.

Meanwhile, we learn that Du-sik graduated from the prestigious Seoul National University. However, no one knows where Du-sik spent five years away from Gongjin after graduating. It sure looks like whatever happened is related to his trauma and nightmares.

Determined to stave off rumors about them, Hye-jin avoids Du-sik. However, the two are reunited again as Du-sik is hired to help Hye-jin during her lecture at the elementary school. After having lunch together, the two are caught in the rain. The ever pragmatic Hye-jin is annoyed at getting drenched, but Du-sik reminds her to let her hair down.

“You’re bound to meet unexpected situations in life. Even if you use an umbrella, you’ll end up getting drenched. Just put your hands up and welcome the rain.”

‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ episode 6: Of hidden feelings and fangirling

Episode 6 picks up from that first kiss revelation. Hye-jin, who’s obviously upset with Du-sik’s denial, is determined to avoid him again. Still not revealing his trauma (Is he a commitment phobe?), we see Du-sik contemplating what happened.

Meanwhile, we see more of Lee Sang-yi as Ji Seong-hyun in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” episode 6. He befriends Du-sik as he eats his way around town and takes pictures.

The Lighthouse Show Festival is the highlight of this episode where the Gongjin townsfolk showed off their talents. Cherry on the top is Hong Du-sik and Yoon Hye-jin trying hard to dance like K-pop stars as they team up to help Oh Ju-ri win the prize.

The three main cast come together in the final scene, signaling the start of the awaited love triangle.
