Love is in the air in Gongjin as the love lines get a much-needed boost in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” episodes 9 and 10. Hong Du-sik pretends to be Yoon Hye-jin’s boyfriend for a day as he struggles with his real feelings. Meanwhile, Ji Seong-hyun tries to avoid repeating a mistake he made years ago.
‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ Episode 9: Boyfriend for a Day
A fake boyfriend may be one of the most rom-com K-drama cliches but it really doesn’t fail to elicit laughter and“kilig” to viewers. Hong Du-sik and Yoon Hye-jin’s father Yoon Tae-hwa get off on the wrong foot because of the former’s casual way of speaking. Tae-hwa seems to prefer the ever polite Ji Seong-hyun, who’s only too eager to please him. Tae-hwa’s disfavor for Du-sik turns for the worse when he finds out that Du-sik is an orphan. He tells Du-sik that he dreams of Hye-jin marrying into a big family after all the suffering she went through when she lost her mother at a young age. Du-sik admits that he and Hye-jin aren’t really together and that he likes her only as a friend. Later in the episode we see Du-sik’s backstory, revealing his anxiety of losing everyone he loves.
Meanwhile, we see more of Ji Seong-hyun and Yoon Hye-jin’s history together in episode 9. He has always liked her during their college days but has never been able to confess. Not wanting to make the same mistake again, Ji Seong-hyun goes back to Gongjin to see Hye-jin.
‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ Episode 10: Hidden Feelings No More
Confessions abound in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” episode 10 as the characters finally deal with their growing feelings.
Pyo Mi-seon puts a lid on her affection for Choi Eun-chul after he rejects her. Eun-chul looks a bit disappointed as she seems to be growing on him after spending some time together.
Our second lead Ji Seong-hyun finally gets to confess his feelings for Yoon Hye-jin after so many years. However, we all know how this pairing will end, with Hye-jin still struggling with her feelings for Hong Du-sik.
As in most instances in life, a wise woman is able to talk sense into a stubborn man. This time, Du-sik, who’s still in denial of his feelings for Hye-jin, gets some wise words from Gongjin’s lead “halmeoni” Kim Gam-ri:
“She has taken up all the space in your heart, so why on earth are you fighting it? Du-sik, life may seem long, but it really isn’t. Throw away unnecessary thoughts and be honest with yourself.”
Kim Gam-ri
While Hye-jin spends some time with Mi-seon in Seoul, she finds herself missing Du-sik and Gongjin. She goes back and confesses to Du-sik who finally decides to be honest with his own affections.
We can’t wait to see more of our Sikhye couple in the upcoming episodes on Netflix. Will Du-sik be able to overcome his anxiety? How will Ji Seong-hyun take the news about the newest couple in Gongjin? Whatever happens, we’re definitely bound to see more of Kim Seon-ho and Shin Min-a’s amazing chemistry in“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.”
