Hyun Bin, unarguably one of Korea’s top Hallyu stars, met with his Filipino fans in a virtual fanmeet with Smart Hallyu Hangouts last July 31.  In the one hour and a half interaction, Hyun Bin answered questions about his previous projects. He even had a video call with two lucky fans and took group photos with them.

Hyun Bin made everyone “kilig” when he said“Mahal ko kayo!” at the start of the fan meeting. The actor revealed that he has not yet traveled to the Philippines and hopes that he can go to the country soon. He said that he is curious to know and feel how much his Filipino fans love him.  Hyun Bin is thankful for all the love and support that he has received throughout the years. A lookback at his projects

Hyun Bin has been active in the showbiz industry for almost twenty years. During the virtual hangout, fans were treated to a trip down the memory lane. Scenes from his previous projects the“Secret Garden,“Hyde, Jekyll, Me,“Memories of the Alhambra,” “Confidential Assignment,” and“Crash Landing on You” were shown.

When asked if he watches his dramas after finishing them, Hyun Bin revealed that he doesn’t. He was even surprised at how popular they have become. When he was filming the“Secret Garden,” a friend texted him that a lot of people liked the drama. But he didn’t have an idea since he was always at the filming set.  Since it was the last drama that he filmed before entering the military, he felt that“Secret Garden” was the turning point in his career. Thanks to the drama, he was able to wrap up his projects nicely and move on to the next level.

He also didn’t know that Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok from“Crash Landing On You” was very popular. Hyun Bin revealed that even though he learned the Pyeongyang dialect for his movie“Confidential Assignment,” he had to relearn the accent. That’s because there’s a difference between how a North Korean soldier and detective speaks. He also brought an electronic piano to Switzerland to learn the piece“Piano Song for My Brother.” Though he knew how to play the piano when he was young, he had forgotten about it.

Hyun Bin shared that he was embarrassed while filming the plaza scene from“Memories of the Alhambra” where he was fighting an enemy in an AR game. That’s because he had to act alone and some foreigners were watching him while shooting.

Hyun Bin gives advice to fans in Smart Hallyu Hangouts

A fan quoted Hyun Bin in the Q&A segment that he once said that happiness is something that was near yet so far.  When asked if he already has a happy life, he said that his definition of happiness has changed. Nowadays, he finds small things that make him happy. When he drinks beer or wine at the end of the day, he feels that it’s a good day. Meeting his Filipino fans makes him happy.
